The Art Museum
The Art Museum

The Art Museum was created on December 20, 1984, with the mission to make its collection known through permanent and itinerant exhibitions. Located at 9 de Julio and Villegas, it has a comprehensive art gallery, possesses a collection of around 600 works among paintings, drawings, sculptures, pottery, engravings and photographs acquired from national and foreign authors through purchase, donations or acquisition prizes in several provincial exhibitions. There are works of artist such as Raúl Soldi, Antonio Berni, Quinquela Martín, José Torres, Salazar Luna, Filippo Montalto, Antonello L´Abatte, Juan Carlos Castagnino, Hector Basaldúa and other important Argentine artists. The Museum has four exhibition rooms, a warehouse, a restoration laboratory, a workshop, and a library.

The "Teatro Español"

The "Teatro Español" (literally Spanish Theatre), opened in 1908, is one of the most beautiful theaters in Argentina, the actual building is result of many modifications, the style of the building is admired by artists from all over the world. Operas, plays, lectures, "zarzuelas" (Spanish operetas) and others activities are performed here.

The Recreational Center "Don Tomás" is located in the center of Santa Rosa, it is formed by 250 hectares, that surround the lagoon of the same name, there you will find many barbecue shops, swimming pools, football and softball pitches, volley and basketball courts, games for children. There are a train called "El Puelchito", which makes a city tour from Plaza San Martin. In the lagoon, you can practise sports such as fishing, windsurf, kayaking, canoeing, water ski, and others. "Don Tomás" sets the ideal stage for family recreation with the best option to enjoy outdoor water and sport activities.

Lihue Calel means "Mountain of Life" in Mapuche Language, it is located in the south centre of La Pampa province, its mission is to preserve the homonymous mountain system, its historical, cultural and natural values, there are areas specially prepared for camping and starting some trip adventures, like for example, climb the "Cerro de la Sociedad" or visit the ruins of the "Estancia Santa María".

The museum was inaugurated on July 9. 1936, is situated in Pellegrini 180 street, the museum possesses two sectors: Natural sciences, with a collection that comprises items of regional animals, plants, fossils, minerals, etc. And Anthropological sciences with abundant material about Aborigines such as rock paintings found in Lihuel Calel hills, engraved plaques, projectile points, mortars, and many others items. Is open from Monday to Friday, from 08.00 am to 05.00 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 06.00 pm to 09.00 pm.

Located 35 km away from Santa Rosa, it is a provincial reserve, Luro Park has three different environments: the low mountain area, the Lake area and the dunes area. This combination create a wonderful natural habitat for animal life, offering exotic fauna such as the red deer and the European wild boar. Also, 160 different (migratory and resident) bird species have been registered. History lovers should visit “El Castillo” (The Castle) Museum, which was declared National Historical Monument, “El Tanque del Millón” (The Million Tank), “El Tambo Modelo” (The Model Diary Farm) and “La Sala de Carruajes” (The Carriage Room), very remarkable constructions.
