Italian in Argentina

Argentina is one of the largest and beautiful countries located in South America. Argentina offers visitors a wide variety of tourist attractions and a good environment to a pleasant holiday. Throughout its history, Argentina has suffered many changes mainly due to the influence of other cultures; this has been the cause of many changes in the way of thinking and of course in the language. Currently, the official language of Argentina is the Spanish language that is spoken by at least 95% of the population. Argentina is the largest country that employs “voceo”, which is the use of the pronoun “vos” instead of “tú” (you), this is because of the influence of Italian language in this county.

Italian language came to Argentina with the first European immigrants from Italy specially the ones settled in the Río de la Plata basin. Currently, with more than 1.5 million Italian Speakers, Italian is the second most spoken language in Argentina.
